Now let’s get on to today’s question!
Can you give some suggestions for creative ways to segway speeches without an MC?
This can definitely take a bit of planning. But what you can do is have an actual “smart playlist” playing in the background.
It’s almost like the awards show when the music is “soft” when they are doing the speech, and then it becomes louder as they are closing their “time frame.”
Ensure to let the people making the speeches/toast about the time frame and tell them that there is actually a “cue” if they are to go over their time. Again, much like the awards show speeches.
So, for example, you can start a playlist like this:
- First background song for speech: 5mins
- Transition: 15 second sound effect (almost like a party hyper effect!)
- Second Background song for speech: 4mins
- Transition: 15 second sound effect
- Third Background song for speech: 2mins (great for ending toast!)
You can easily create this playlist in your Spotify and have your venue coordinator or someone in your bridal party plug it in when it’s time for the speeches! Search for similar songs and effects that match your style!
We’ve made a sample Spotify playlist here that you can re-create and modify accordingly!
To ensure that your speeches are in sync, share this playlist with the people who will be doing the speeches to practice on their own with the background music.
This will also help them be more conscious of their speech time!
